Employment Law Q & A

Would touching be considered “sexual harassment”?

Question:

If your manager comments on your body…he told me that I should be a courteous clerk. I said I did not want to be because I thought that job was to masculine (lifting all the heavy stuff, and I was joking). Anyways, he said that I had a nice built, nice thick legs and arms…then he kept playfully touching me. He was also saying that I am gorgeous, and bla blah blah.

What do you all think?
Thanks

Answer:

“bla blah blah” is not sexual discrimination. The playfully touching part could be. Tell him you don’t appreciate his comments, especially the touching, and he’s to stop it immediately. If it continues, report him to HR. You really should keep a record of all this. Click here to learn how to document problems at work.
