Age Discrimination When Applying for a Job

Question:
Has anyone experienced “age discrimination” when applying for a job? How did you deal with it?  I am extremely qualified for the jobs I have applied for and for some reason I’m getting nowhere. What would you do if you were getting a bad reference from a former employer which is not justified?

Answer:

About the age discrimination thing, how do you know it was due to that?  Did they flat out say something like “we’re looking for younger people”?  If you have proof of it, turn them into the EEOC or your state’s labor board.

About the bad reference, again, are you encountering it?  It is illegal for a former employer to say false things about you.  Here’s something from an attorney regarding former employers giving bad references.
