I was recently let go from a brand new job, after I had left previous employment because they told me that the funding source wanted a younger person for the position than they hired me for.

Not sure how old you are, but the EEOC defines age discrimination as starting at 40 years old.
If you are over that, then you may well have a case, but you haev to prove they fired you specifically because of your age.
