Can’t Get A Job Because Boyfriend Already Works There
I have been looking for a job for a long time and now I know a clothes shop near me is taking in CVs so I handed one in. They now say I can’t apply for a job there because my boyfriend works there?
Is this fair or is there a law against this like discrimination? As if I want to work at that store I have to drive 30 minutes each day not including the traffic instead of a 10 minute walk.

It sucks, but there is no law against it. Click here to find a job. You may be able to find other retail jobs in your area. You’re limiting yourself if you’re just looking for a clothing store. Retail store look for people with customer service and point of sale experience.
There is no law either way. Companies may choose to not let a partner work there, because it brings with it a potential to be highly disruptive.
I worked at a company in which 2 workers became engaged. They were told, one had to resign. Fair? Maybe, or maybe not. Conmpany policy? Yes.
