Contract Ended, Didn’t Get The Promised Week’s Pay
I was hoping someone with a little employment law background could help me out with a problem I having with a contract I worked on.
A paragraph in my contracts reads…
"The employee shall cary out the duties assigned to him to the best of his ability on a full time basis. This Agreement and the Employee’s employment may be terminated prior to march 24 2008 for just cause or for any other reasn upon one weeks written notice (or pay in lieu of notice) without any further requirement for further notice, pay in lieu of notice or severance pay at common law or under statute. The employee shall give one week written notice of resignation if he/she chosses to resign prior to March 24th."
The way I interpret this is, if my services under this contract are no longer required for any reason that I am entitled to the pay which I would have obtained if my services were required to march 24th.
My contract did end early a full week and I received no notice.

In the event your services were no longer required prior to March 24th they would have had to do one of two things:
1 – Give you one weeks WRITTEN notice that your employment was to end in one week; or
2 – If the written notice was not given and you were terminated without the notice you would be entitled to one weeks pay.
Based on what you wrote you were let go 1 week before the March 24th contract date with no notice? If this is the case you were and are entitled to that final week of pay.
