Discrimination at Work, What should I have done?

Question:  I worked at a Call Center last year, and during Xmas holidays they put up Signs that Said “Happy Holidays”, “Happy Hanukkah” “Happy Kwanzaa” “Feliz Navidad” … and i noticed Not one sign in the HUGE building did it say Merry Christmas… now could i have sued this company for discrimination and would i of made anything from it?

Answer:  Learn to speak Spanish.  Feliz Navidad literally means Happy Christmas.  You wouldn’t have made jack from suing and no employment law attorney would have touched your weak “claim of discrimination”.

Harassment can include, for example, offensive remarks about a person’s religious beliefs or practices. Although the law doesn’t prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that aren’t very serious, harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision (such as the victim being fired or demoted).   Read more here http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/religion.cfm

Sounds like you’re in America. It’s weird how such a greedy country is so worried about ‘offending’ the illegal immgrants they’re paying the cost of living for.
No, don’t be ridiculous, you can’t sue because they didn’t put up a Merry Christmas sign. But I agree witth you that it’s just sad that you can’t say (even in Canada) Merry Christmas to people anymore.
