Racial Discrimination: Black Can’t Use Facilities

My employer hasn’t been discriminatory to myself, but is horribly so towards my co workers. I’m a white slim female.

She lined up some of the new staff and literally picked out the ones that she didn’t want. Her reason, she doesn’t want fatties working for her.

The black staff are not allowed to use the same facilities as us because, “they have germs”. And my coworker was told that,”she knows her kind!”

I’m so sick of this. How can she treat people like this? It can’t be legal. I can’t stand up myself, because I really need this job. What advice can I give them?

One Response to Racial Discrimination: Black Can’t Use Facilities

  • Yes, it’s illegal. Not the fattie part, but the black part. Racial discrimination. It doesn’t matter that it didn’t happen to you. You can still report it. By reporting it, it puts you in a protected class. If you get fired out of retaliation for reporting it, that’s illegal, too.

Document everything that goes down because you’ll need proof. If your company has more than 15 employees, then report it to the http://www.EEOC.gov If you have less than 15 employees, report it to your state’s labor board, but DO REPORT IT. Click here to learn how to document problems at work.
