Filing A Sexual Harassment Complaint When You Weren’t A Party To It

A Reader Asks This Question:

While I was on holiday, a coworker was sexually harassed by a manager. As soon as I returned, she and several other witnesses told me about it. My harassed coworker is traumatized, yet she is too embarrassed to report the incident to Human Resources. However, I am highly offended by this manager’s behavior, and now find it difficult to work with him due to the uncomfortable work environment he has created. Can I legally file a sexual harassment complaint, even though I only heard about the incident?

  • Zarg222 says:

only someone who actually WITNESSED it can report it

    otherwise it is just heresay

your word means nothing hearing the story second hand – the person could be lying

get together with the alleged victim and go to HR and report it – make sure any witnesses also go
