Find An Attorney for An Employee
A Reader Asks This Question:
What type of law works with employment issues? A friend of mine is having employment issues and wants to seek out legal support. I looked up “employment law” though that seems to bring up lawyers who work with businesses, rather than employees. Is there a certain term that I can use to seek out this kind of support?
Thanks!

Search on “lawyers for employees” and “attorneys for employees”. Look for someone offering free consultations and they will provide you with the best way to proceed. @michr is correct, though. You want to go to your DOL or EEOC. Many times the problem can be resolved with them. In fact, it will be quicker, too. Provided your friend has a case worthy of an atty, it could possibly take years to resolved. You usually only want to do that when big money is involved to ensure you get a sizeable chunk of what’s due – and to pay the atty’s fee because they’ll take a chunk.
the first step is the department of labor NOT an attorney, almost all labor violations are resolved by the DoL…..
if this is a discrimination issue the first step is the EEOC…….
