Got Fired, Got Denied Unemployment

Question:

I worked part time,5hours each day for 1year and 5months and got fired,”Can’t I draw unemployment?I got denied.

Answer:

Typically, you can’t get unemployment if you get fired. Are you sure you were fired? Did they say you were fired? Or were you laid off or your position terminated because of downsizing or restructuring? If it’s the later of the two, then you lost your job through no fault of you own and you need to appeal. If you lost your job through no fault of your own, you can collect unemployment. Tell them it was a misunderstanding of terms.
