Got Laid Off, Can’t Find A Good Paying Job

In november my employer filed bankruptcy and everybody got laid off where I worked at. As of yet I was not able to find any jobs and my unemployment and money is running out? I was offered a job last week of 23K and that’s not going to be able to pay the bills at all… Are all of you having a hard time as well? If my unemployment runs out is there any kind of federal extensions that we can file?

  • I got laid off 4 years ago, but took a break from the workforce. My savings account is just about dry because I’ve been helping out my boyfriend get back on his feet. I was luck that I had a savings account. I have no intentions of going back into the same line of work and I was hoping the economy would pick up before I needed to go back. Things aren’t looking so well in CA. My truck is paid for and I have a roof over my head for now. I have no idea what other people are doing when they lose their house and cars.

Yes, there are extensions. I had to apply for mine today and I have been out of work since August. Unfortunately, many will have to take jobs that pay less in order to get any job at all.

When the economy was great (which was a lie) and the housing industry was booming, I knew that it couldn’t last and the bottom was going to drop out of the economy. Well, it did and the crooks that caused it are still getting their bonuses while the rest of us suffer. Many more are becoming homeless.

Competition is stiff out there for the available jobs. I am at the point where I am considering jobs that pay half of what I was making and I was not making a ton of money.
