Hair style discrimination at work?
I have a Mohawk. I can’t have one at work but who is to say it’s a Mohawk if it’s just laying down? I feel from a legal stand point it’s discrimination.
Yes it looks like a Mohawk but I really don’t think you can tell someone they can’t work somewhere if the hair has no gel in it and is not a color that isn’t natural.
I’m sure I will get a lot of. About it. There is many haircuts that are so slightly differ ant but don’t ever get called a Mohawk.
You can have a mullet. You can have hair on the top of your head with shaved sides but not both at the same time. I really think this would be a good court case.
I’m curious as to what other people think. Thanks for looking.
I think the reason companies get away with this is because typically young kids have these hair styles and tend to let people take advantage of them.
It may be discrimination about your hair, but a hair style doesn’t put you in any protected class. If you were a Muslim and this was about a beard, “maybe” it would be religious discrimination. You would have to check their employee manual and see what company policy is. If it’s not fairly applied to everyone, that would be something, but since you don’t work there, I doubt there would be any attorney who would want the case. But you can go here to find an employment law attorney to see what they have to say.
