How does one combat age discrimination in employment?

So I’m 59, extensively skilled in executive management and can’t, for the life of me, land an appropriate job. I’m just about to file a discrimination complaint (not normally my style) but I’m so exasperated! Anyone out there got advice or experience with age discrimination issues?

One Response to How does one combat age discrimination in employment?

  • You’ll need to prove age discrimination. Look for comments like:
how old are you (straight up illegal)
we’re looking for fresh blood or new ideas
fun people with a spunky attitude
we’re cleaning house of the dead wood

Anything that hints at “we getting rid of or don’t want to hire old people”

Document it and report it. You need good, solid proof. There will be an investigation and it could result in a fine or the right to sue.
