You don’t say what line of work you were in, so it’s hard to assess if it’s going to be hard finding another job. Click here to find a job in your area. Sign up for both JobFitterUSA and Snagajob. First call the unemployment office or go online to apply for unemployment benefits. Second, tailor your resume so that way it won’t give away your age. You can downsize yourself by saying over 5 years and mentioned the work that you do. Downsizing isn’t a "lie". At least, you will get some interviews.
First of all, call the unemployment office TODAY and start the whole process for receiving unemployment. The first day you call them is when your benefits will begin. I don’t know what your field of work is, but explore your options. People know the economy is not doing well right now.
