Illegally Fired From a Corporate Job, How Do I Sue?

I was fired while on medical leave for major surgery, but I was then injured on the job because of neglect on the part of the manager. She failed to report injury due to company policy of taking $500.00 from managers bonus for on the job injuries. Also witnesses said manager was firing employees who could testify against her, she was being investigated. I had permission to be off from work and she fired under “no call, no show”.  Who do you contact if illegally fired from a corporate job and can a corporation be sued?

Answer:  Wait a sec.  Was the surgery because of the work injury?  If so, get an attorney ASAP.  If she was being investigated, then the company knew about it, but did nothing to save your job.  Yes, you can sue them, but you’ll need an attorney.  Sounds like a wrongful termination case.  It should be noted that it is illegal to prevent an employee from filing a workers’ comp case, so the company can be nailed for that.  Click here to get a consultation with a pre-screened employment law attorney

Make sure you have some documentation for the attorney.  You’ll need a timeline of what happened.  Start by writing down events and the dates they happened. Don’t worry about the order in the beginning, just get it documented.  As you remember new events, write them down.  Once you’ve collected a few, then put them into order and you’ll see the magic unfold, that is, what led up to it.  Having everything in order will also trigger new memories.  Best of luck to you.
