Is it possible to sue for discrimination?
Question: A week ago, I was sent home for not having my food-handlers license. A group of other people at work didn’t have theirs. I was the only one sent home.
Answer: Call the agency responsible for licensing food-handlers and blow the whistle on them. What state are you in? Are you a minority of some sort? Was there any issue at work that lead up to you being sent home? I’m thinking perhaps retaliation for something? Document it before you call the licensing agency. Here’s how to document problems at work.
But still, if your job requires you to have a food-handlers license and you were sent home because you didn’t, you probably can’t scream discrimination.

Not having a license is not a protected class. Nice try but no case.
To have a successful suit, it would depend on how you are different from the other group of people. If they sent you home and you were the only female and the ones that weren’t sent home were all males then you might have a suit. Any of the protected classes would give you a cause of action.
