Pregnant Friend Just Got Fired From Work
We have both worked at this bank job for over four years and have been excellent employees, shes about 5 or 6 months pregnant and our employer has know for a while. She just got fired today, 2 days after telling her boss that she has gestational diabetes and will be needing more time off from work for appts. She was told she was fired for a different reason than being pregnant when another employee is allowed to keep working there while she made an even worse mistake…… what can my friend do? She is very stressed out and needs all the advice she can get.
Answer: Because your friend is pregnant, she is in a protected class. She needs to file a pregnancy discrimination claim with the EEOC IMMEDIATELY! She also needs to document how it all played out. How things were are work, her performance reviews, bonuses, rewards, etc. Then when she announced the gestational diabetes news and what happened after that. She should click here to find an employment attorney where she lives. They would LOVE to get their hands on a case like this.
