Sex Discrimination? Only A Few Forced To Wear Skimpy Uniforms

My sister works at a bar and grill were the uniforms and just basic t-shirts with the logo and khakis. Yesterday the owner came in and told everyone that there will be new uniforms; tank tops and jean shorts or jeans. He points to my sister and two other girls and told them that they have to wear the Hooter’s style shorts that he brings in for them. This sounds very very wrong to me!!! Is this legal???
I think that if he wants to change the uniform that he his prerogative, but if you are going to have three of the girls wear the uniform thank EVERYONE should have to wear it!!!

  • If the reason for only those 3 girls to wear skimpy outfits is because of their “assets” and the others don’t have to wear them, it could be possible sex discrimination. I would check with both the EEOC and your state’s department of labor.

Is there an employee manual discussing dress code? It’s usually standard that if one has to dress a certain way, they all have to. Else, it’s considered disparate treatment. Here’s an article about that. http://definitions.uslegal.com/d/disparate-treatment/

Tell your sister and those other girls to document how it all went down. Here’s a free report for them that will explain how to do it. “10 Things That Managers Do To Get Sued…And Lose In Court”
