Slipped and Fell at Work, Then Fired – What Can I Do?
i was bartending at this bar this past week. they never had me fill out any employment paperwork….like the IRS stuff. I asked about it..they said they would have me come in early one day to fill it all out. Well..I got hurt on some wet stairs lastnight. And they just called me to tell me that they wouldn’t need me anymore from here on out. So..what can I do? I got hurt on their property…during working hours…but they never had me fill out paperwork and such. Is that legal? What about workmans comp? what can I do….this is a huge night club….I feel powerless…
Answer: You mean the W4 for withholding information. You NEED to file a workers’ comp claim if you were injured, but don’t you dare think for one minute that you can collect money and “fix their ass” because you got hurt. It is ILLEGAL for them to deny you the right to file a claim.
