So if she tells this person no or to stop asking for sex, she’s going to get fired. The quickest way to end this would be to document it. Click here to learn how to document problems at work. Have your friend compose an email to this person.

    Dear Mr. ______,

I would like to follow-up on the conversation we had on [fill in the date(s), including where the request was made]. You stated, “[quote exactly what this guy said]“. My interpretation of that is, if I don’t have sex with you, you are going to cut my hours and possibly fire me.

Since you have stated that if I don’t comply with your request, asking you directly to stop will jeopardize my job. Therefore, you leave me no choice but to go above your head.

Your request for sexual favors in return for keeping my hours or job is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual’s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual’s work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.

I am demanding that you stop asking me to have sex with you. Any retaliation from you on this matter is also illegal.

    Respectfully,

    [friend's name goes]

Now, email this to him and cc: her offsite personal email address, the boss, his boss, HR department, the EEOC and the state labor board. Do NOT bcc:. She needs to make it visible and known that she sent the email to everyone. If email is not possible, I would write a letter to him and cc all parties. I would pretty much guarantee the jerk will lose his job.

Thanks to the EEOC, your friend has the rights however she must first do the following: document and report the incident to upper-management, if they don’t act quickly or at all she can take it one step further. She must take the issue to her organizations HR department. The HR department should resolve the issue. However, if they do not act in a professional manner, your friend can go to the EEOC and file a complaint. If your friend fails to take the aforementioned steps prior to going to the EEOC, the EEOC will tell her to take each of those steps.
I wish her all the best.

When I was about 18 years old, there was a guy that would make disgusting, lewd comments to me. I told him I felt disrespected, but he didn’t stop. I really didn’t realize I had rights at that time and didn’t feel comfortable going to my male bosses about it. It wasn’t until I quit because of the harassment that I found out I could have contacted the EEOC. That would be the best thing for her to do.
