Where can I find help for workplace sexual harassment?
I’ve been sexualy harassed at work, I want help, I don’t want to lose my job. How can the Law protect me? Is there any email or confidential number I can call?
Thank you
Answer: You don’t mention the extent and duration of the harassment and who’s doing it. First of all, you need to document everything. Click here to learn how to document problems at work. It will explain what to do. Start by telling the person to STOP. If that doesn’t work, then go to HR or your boss and SUBMIT IT IN WRITING and cc the appropriate agencies. Believe me, if that doesn’t light a fire under them, then they deserve to face the consequences. If you get fired or mysteriously laid off after that, those agencies will have the proof that it was retaliation and that is illegal.
Download Work Laws Exposed and it will give you step by step instructions on how you can protect yourself at work from sexual harassment and a whole litany of other problems.
Here is how the EEOC defines sexual harassment: http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/sexual_harassment.cfm

State Division on Civil Rights or the federal eeoc. It is free and they can handle it. The first step is human resources if you have that kind of dept. Get some proof or the names of others who have been sexually harassed if you can. You can sue the company for sexual harassment so they are usually happy to settle the situation.
Keep a diary, dates times who was present, what was said/done. Then contact your human resource department. If should be able to help. Failing which, why dont you contact an employment lawyer for advice, some will speak to you over the phone for free. Or google "sexual harrassment" and your area, and see if anything comes up. Dont be timid, next time the person approaches you, tell them to stop or you will take it further. Be calm and polite.
