Where would I file a racial discrimination claim?
A Reader Asks This Question:
I recently got fired from my job because one of the Managers there hated me (racist) and I got fired over something unfair that didn’t need to be. All because she is a racist and didn’t like me because I was hispanic. She would always make comments about it as well…so how would I complain about this?

@mnwomen, you are only 1/2 correct about at-will employment. They can fire you for any reason as long as it’s not an illegal reason. Racial discrimination IS an illegal reason.
Here are the instructions for filing a racial discrimination claim with the EEOC.

You may feel like it is discrimination but your problem is proving it. Also if you work in an at will state they can fire you at any time and for any reason. Regardless if you feel it was unfair it is still legal.
Call 1 800 669 4000. That is the toll free number for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which is the Federal Agency that enforces employment discrimination laws. Tell them: "I want to file a Charge of Discrimination." They’ll help you do that.
