Who do I call to get advice about workplace retaliation?
I work for a company that provides group home services. I have heard(by fellow employees) that this company breaks many laws, including altering time cards, employing those who can not read nor write English, who are passing medications, and my supervisor recently revealed some very confidential information about my past to another employee, telling her not to trust me based on the information. This company has tried to fire me before, actually for doing something that was not against applicable laws, not against company policies, just for “unwritten rules’ that I was never told about. Now they tried to fire me for telling another member of management what was said about my past, and of course the one who said it denyed ever having the conversation with the other staff. I ended up telling them everything that was going on at the workplace, including several illegal things, and about other members of management talking crap about the one who made the break of confidentiality in the first place. The one member of management that I told the most about (all truth, by the way) is the one who makes the schedule. Previously, I had let them know that since I was hired full time, I have a requirement from my payer of my Childcare Assistance that I need to be working at least 36 hours a week, and the schedule was put up, and I was scheduled for 36 hours a week for the next 2 months. The lady I “whistleblew” on came back to the workplace after being warned about her conduct and threw down a new schedule, snickered at me, and said, “Here’s your NEW schedule. Enjoy.” ……… Needless to say, the new schedule now showed, wihtout any reason, me being cut down to 18 hours a week. I have 4 kids. I know that this is retaliation becuase it is well known there that I have children and only one income, and that I need as many hours as I can get and have to work fulltime in order to get help paying for my daycare. I feel retaliated against. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! I have tried reporting the living conditions of the group home to the state, and soon after I did, this whole she-bang started. PLEASE HELP ME!
