Injured At Work: Think I’m Faking, Bosses Making Jokes
Hi, I was injured at work about 2 months ago. I just found out that I ruptured a disc in my neck. A few weeks ago before this was discovered I was bringing a medical note to my HR person and a co-worker told me some of my bosses were joking and speculating about me faking it. This obviously infuriates me especially since I found out I am seriously injured and in serious pain.I also feel this has damaged my reputation. Do I have any recourse, or is there any thing I can do to get satisfaction out of this. I have all ready hired a lawyer to deal with the injury aspect of this, and i know I should ask him. Just wondering what to expect in the meantime. Thanks
Answer: Did you file a workers’ compensation claim for your work injury? Depending upon which state you’re in, there is a time restriction. HAD you filed a workers’ comp claim and the bosses are making jokes about it, speculating that you’re faking and in ANY way treating you differently because you filed a claim, that would be illegal. It’s called retaliation.
