Workplace Retaliation After Calling the Ethics Help Line
So i have a friend who called the ethics line at her job because she thought her boss was having her do things that should not be done. She filed a report and she is sure that they talked to her manager about it because corporate managers came to talk to him right after she filed the claim. She is sure that her manager knows it was her that called the ethics line and now she feels like her boss does not treat her the same…. some examples are documented below,
She was going to ask him something and he responds without even looking at her ” i dont have time to help you im with a customer”
While on her break her boss comes to look for her and asks her what time she was back because they had a long line, she tells him that she will be back in a few minutes but that her other manager had already told her that she needed her for something and he responds” i didn’t ask you what you what you were doing after i just want to know what time you are back”
Next situation he is helping another employee but doesnt know how to do a transaction, the employee asks the other manager and the manager send my friend to help, he responds” if you are going to take over my transaction can you at least tell me so i will not be wasting my time?”
What should she do?
Answer: The manager is having her do “things that should not be done”. Are these illegal things? Things against company policy? Or just things your friend doesn’t like doing? Your friend needs to sit down and make a timeline of events just like they do in the cop movies. How things were at work and what these things were that the manager had her doing. Then when she reported it and what happened afterwards. Click here to learn how to document problems at work. It’s free.
Without know what these “things” were, it’s hard to say if her case has any merit. If she still thinks she has a case, she can click here to get a free consultation with an employment lawyer.
