Have You Quit Your Job Due To A Verbally Abusive Boss?

I had to quit my last job because of a verbal abusive boss. What should I tell a prospective new employer?
I have heard for some time that it is not good to bad mouth a former boss. I worked for this lady for 3 years but our turnover for employees was extremely high because she had an explosive temper and would scream/cuss at employees. I am a very patient person but after time it wore on me and one day she directed the hostile behavior towards me. I was honestly scared of her. I couldn’t sleep at night and would get sick very often because of stress. Eventually I decided that no one should have to deal with that sort of abuse in the workplace. I quit and the Unemployment Commission was in favor for me to receive benefits. However, I don’t know what to say in interviews as to why I quit.
