Missouri Employment Law: Didn’t Get Pay Raise
I live in Missouri. When I was hired I was told I would have a 90 day evaluation which would result in a raise. I didn’t get my evaluation until 5 months after employment which was after the person who hired me left the company. When doing the evaluation with the new boss I didn’t recieve my raise so I went back and asked when I would recieve it. They finally gave me my raise 6 months after employment and told me it would show up on my next paycheck. I am paid biweekly and still haven’t recieved it even though I have talked to my manager who said it should be there and human resources who said the paperwork wasn’t filed correctly (no fault of mine). What can I do to get the pay I was supposed to recieve 3 months ago or to at least get the process to speed up and get me what I need? I am in a bind right now and could really use the extra money, but I feel like this company has me running in circles.
Answer: There is no law to cover this unless you have a contract and the contract was broken. If you feel your case has merit, only an attorney can answer that question. Click here to get a consultation with an employment attorney in your area.
