What Rights do I have at work while I am pregnant?

 

We have 15 people in our company like 7 in corporate out of all 15 there are 4 women 2 in our corporate all older though. I am pregnant I am so sick today and sick yesterday but today I called out of work, the only thing being sick and pregnant I can do is get rest, that is the only thing thats going to make me feel better, I cant take ANYTHING. My boss (who is a married man that has no kids) just called and was pissed b/c he planned on leaving early today at noon b/c he had a meeting down at his beach house with his landscapers you know priority, basically chewed my ass out, saying he could pay 2 people for what they pay me. Mind you MONDAY, 3 people were out sick one with strep throat and came in the next day still contagious oh and one other guy out b/c he had his house appraised, real important 8 hrs to have someone walk through a 3 bedroom house. This is very aggravating to me. I didn’t know what to say but I can tell you Im so emotional b/c im pregnant and now Im so upset. At this point I felt like saying you know what you want to Fire me go for it, see what problems you soon have from discrimination, we do have 10 paid sick days a year. Oh & Id like to add My Boss is related to me.

Answer:  Pregnancy discrimination involves treating a woman (an applicant or employee) unfavorably because of pregnancy, childbirth, or a medical condition related to pregnancy or childbirth.

The law forbids discrimination when it comes to any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, fringe benefits, such as leave and health insurance, and any other term or condition of employment.

If a woman is temporarily unable to perform her job due to a medical condition related to pregnancy or childbirth, the employer or other covered entity must treat her the same as any other temporarily disabled employee. For example, the employer may have to provide modified tasks, alternative assignments, disability leave or unpaid leave.
